This blog is a recycled Facebook post.
As previously mentioned, I love your "I voted" posts. Gives me hope for regaining democracy. I'll keep liking them here on FV! There's nothing sexier than an "I voted" sticker on your shirt and a smile on your face! You look MARVELOUS!
Having said that, if you were able to get through and vote in an hour or less, maybe keep that fact off your FB post. Then please keep a special thought and prayer for those who waited or will wait for 6, 8, 10+ hours for the same privilege because of voter suppression.
As you may know, some neighborhoods, cities, municipalities, and states are making it hard for people to vote. These long lines are designed to discourage people from voting and perhaps our comments are not helping. With the Voting Rights Act largely struck down, governors can reduce drop off locations (ahem, Abbott), limit the number of voting stations in 'unfavorable' districts, continue racial gerrymandering, and do whatever else it takes to discourage voters in those places.
So, go VOTE and keep posting your pics online. Then, advocate HARD for voting to be made free, fair, simple, and hassle-free EVERYWHERE. Learn more (watch the documentary "ALL IN: The Fight for Democracy"). Tell Blue legislators to put voting issues at the top of their agenda and tell Red legislators to just freakin' put it on their agenda. Donate to the F*ck gerry(mandering) Fund at the link below or to fairfight.com.
Let's make it easier for EVERYONE to vote! We win when someone who waited hours in 2020 can say "it only took me 15 minutes" in 2022.
